With this piece of news reported by the Chinese media, it is becoming quite evident that there are stiff competition and strong chances of conflicts between the navies of both countries. China has friendly relations with India’s arch-rival. For them, Pak is the balancer against India. This is quite evident from the generous amount of economic and military aids being given to them. Not just the regular military supply, but the nuclear supplies also.

China has been trying to gain a strong foothold in the Indian Ocean, and it sees Pakistan as a helpful and strategically groomed asset for the task. With the help of Pakistan Navy, China can control the resources in the ocean. A possible solution for India would be to create strategic hubs to monitor and secure their coastlines.

India should start working on the plans to harness the potential of Andaman and Nicobar Islands as the strategic hub for its Indo-Pacific strategy. These islands can enjoy a wonderful geographic advantage but have mostly been neglected to be considered as a port or naval base. While India has been cautious with China’s moves on the borders, it’s time that Delhi thinks about countering Beijing’s approach to use Pakistan as a balance against India.
