Bharat Mata Ki Jai!! – Political Exploitation or a way to worship your motherland? – Bolo India by God of Small Thing

‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ is an Indian traditional adoration to the motherland of India. These 4 words of patriotism have recently faced meaningless controversies. Many Muslim communities find it un-Islamic to chant this slogan. It is truly unethical to live in a country and retain from not worshipping its motherland. Bharat Mata Ki Jai is a statement to honor and worship to the native land. The concept of worshipping the earth and its country has been long part of Hinduism. Considering nation as mother goddess began in Bengal and then spread all over the country. Then the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Matram’ (originally ‘Bande Matram’) added to the esteem of the nation.

Do Muslims have a problem in saying Bharat Mata ki Jai? 

The chanting of the slogan has always been refrained by the Muslims. It has been a bitter thought for maximum Muslims and they call it un-Islamic. Many Hindu fundamentalists have made it mandatory for every Hindu to chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai.

They have advised the people of their community for Pakistan if they have problem chanting this phrase. Is it correct that if u can’t worship the country you live in then you have no right to stay in that country?

Chanting Bharat Mata Ki Jai and worshiping one’s country should be no problem as it is an act of honoring the country.

Why there is a controversy over chanting of Bharat Mata ki Jai?

This controversy started when RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat asked the new generation to chant Bharat Mat Ki Jai. This drew a spate of reaction across Muslim societies across the country. The most controversial statement came from AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. He said that he will not say Bharat Mata Ki Jai even if a knife was put to his throat.

Do Muslims have a problem in saying Bharat Mata ki Jai?

According to Muslims, Bharat Mata means mother goddess-like ‘Maa Durga, Maa Kali’ and many other Hindu goddesses. Worshiping Hindu mother goddess is impossible for the Muslims which refrains them in chanting Bharat Mata Ki Jai. India is called Bharat Mata which is considered a worshippable entity that is against Islam.

The Hindu ideology of Bharat Mata – 

People of the Hindu community in the country considers India (Bharat) as a goddess and that’s why is called Bharat Mata. It becomes un-Islamic as Bharat Mata is akin to the invocation of goddess Durga (goddess full of power and strength) and worshipped by Hindus. Worshiping deity of any other religion is impossible for any religion in the country. According to Muslims Bharat Mata Ki Jai is not the only way to extend love for the country Jai Hind and Vande Matram is also an expression.

Political Exploitation over Bharat Mata ki Jai- 

It’s very sad to see that two Hyderabad based Islamic seminaries have issued fatwa’s to Muslims to not chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai.

Islam never taught its followers to prohibit one’s love for its motherland. The land which provides a place to live food to eat and many other comforts needs to be worshipped.

It is meaningless to forbid the slogan Bharat Mata Ki Jai. Every Indian must praise and worship its country keeping religion aside. Putting phrases of patriotism into controversies needs to be neglected by the citizen of every religion. Freedom of speech doesn’t give way to avoid slogans related to the hailing of the country. Every individual must hail its country in every possible way.
