India Pakistan relations worsen as Pakistan suspends trade ties with India and After Samjhauta, Pak suspends Thar Express service
Article 370-35A has taken the entire world by storm. The decision of abrogating article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir is not loved by Imran Khan and his party. Clearly, this move was bold enough to make everyone shock.
In the series of shocking events, Pakistan has decided to stop the “Samjhauta express“.On Thursday, Pakistan stopped the Samjhauta express on Wagah border. Indian passengers were safely escorted to Atari.
Samjhauta express was named after the Hindi meaning of the agreement. It shows the relation between the two nations. It comprises of six sleeper coaches and a 3-tier AC coach. And, it runs from Delhi to Atari in India and from Lahore to Wagah in Pakistan.
On enquiring about the situation, a senior railway official said, ” We received the information around 2:14 pm from the Pakistani authorities. We assured them about the security and told them that Indian crew members and guards will escort the train safely to the Atari. ”
It seems like Pakistan is in no mood to keep relation with India. A few days back, Imran Khan warned India out of the concern and said many more attack like Pulwama can happen!
In February, this year Pakistan had stopped the services of the train because of the attacks which happened in Pulwama. Tension grew too much between the nations which resulted in canceling the train services from India too.
On Wednesday, Pakistan announced its decision to downgrade diplomatic ties with India. And, on Thursday they have announced to suspend the train services and bilateral trade with India. Bifurcation of Jammu Kashmir has deeply affected the Pakistani’s ministers.
Pakistan suspends Thar Express service after Samjhauta Express:
The next anticipated step was a similar action on the THAR Express. In another unilateral step, Pakistan has cited security concerns and has suspended the Thar express as well. Thar express ran between Jodhpur and Karachi. The train runs every Friday from Bhagat ki Kothi in Jaipur to Friday since 2006.
Pakistan’s Railway Minister issued a statement today which states that the services of Thar express will be suspended from midnight. He cited that they do not have enough resources to ensure the security of Indian passengers.
India’s stand on relations with Pakistan:
Meanwhile, India has responded to these retaliatory actions as unilateral and has asked Pakistan to review them. However, Pakistan appears to be in no mood to have any diplomatic or trade relations with India.
What they fail to realize is that they are dependent on India for a huge number of imports. Canceling those imports will only add to the skyrocketing inflation in their country. India too will suffer losses, but they are so small in number that they can be ignored. All in all, Pakistan is only going to invite more troubles with these unilateral decisions.
People getting shocked after the bifurcation of Jammu Kashmir is no new. But Pakistan’s behavior actually gives an insight into how they were exploiting the state to spread terrorism in India.
