Candidates waiting for the golden opportunity to become an officer with the Indian Army can appear for the Territorial Army Exam. Qualifying for this exam gives a golden chance to candidates to become a Territorial Army Officer (TA). The role and responsibilities of the Territorial Army officers include relieving the regular army from static tasks and assisting the civil administration to manage natural calamities and maintenance of essentials.
The Territorial Army invites applications for appointment as officers under the Territorial Army. Only the eligible candidates can apply for the exam. Civilians who aspire to become Territorial Army Officers can join the department as Officers and Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO).
Territorial Army 2021 written exam was conducted on September 26, 2021. However, future aspirants can try for the next recruitment cycle.
- Candidates applying for TA posts must be Indian citizens.
- The age of candidates as of August 19, 2021, must be between 18 and 42 years.
- Only graduates are eligible to apply.
- Candidates must be physically/ medically fit to take up the challenging roles.
Candidates shortlisted will be invited for screening (written test followed by an interview round) by the Preliminary Interview Board (PIB) of the respective Territorial Army Group Headquarters. The final selection will be made based on the exams taken by Services Selection Board (SSB) and Medical Board.

Candidates shortlisted as TA officers will get one month of basic training in the first year of commission. Also, there will be two months of annual training camp each year. Candidates will get three months of post-commissioning training within the first two years at IMA, Dehradun
