Twitter is a social media platform and we all are familiar with Twitter. What we are not so familiar is what happened today on twitter. On the third death anniversary of a militant named “Burhan Wani”, people have hyped him as a hero of Kashmir. 33 thousand people on twitter tweeted with #BurhanWani.
Here are some of the tweets from Twitter:
Burhan Wani is a household name in India and in Pakistan. He was the commander of the militant organization Lashkar-e- Toiba. He was shot down in an encounter by the Indian armed forces 3 years ago. But what remains is a serious question that even after 3 years of being killed why some people hail him as a hero.
Who was Burhan Wani?
Burhan Wani was an Indian who joined the militant organization and gained immense popularity through his social media activities. He was touted to be the fresh face of militancy in Kashmir. Burhan hailed from Dadasar district in Kashmir.
Burhan’s death created unrest in Kashmir and agitation was started against the Indian army. The unrest lasted as long as four months. More than 40 people had died and another 1,800 were injured during the protests.
Even today a strike was called in Kashmir for the death anniversary of Burhan Wani. Every year around this time the environment of the valley becomes immensely tensed. The tension scaled to the levels that even the holy Amarnath Yatra had to be stopped keeping in mind the security and the rising tensions.
The question that arises here is why what is the need to hail a militant?
Every year a handful of people manipulate the Kashmiris into believing that he was a real-life hero. What is even surprising is that nobody questions back as to why is he being hailed as a hero. Anybody who joins militants is not a hero, a person who is fighting against his army is not a hero. A person who talks about separating his state from the nation is not a hero a person who has killed many innocent people is not a hero.
The Joint Resistance Leadership, a group of separatists had called for the shutdown, according to Kashmir Reader. Security was increased across the state and the authorities have suspended mobile and internet services in four southern districts in the Valley.
Pakistan propagates Burhan Wani as a hero of Kashmir:
Even Pakistan remembered Burhan Wani on his death anniversary. Revealing their true colors, a spokesperson of the Pak Army hailed him as a hero again. Major General Asif Ghafoor tweeted “nothing comes Sacrifices. Heroes Do it at the cost of their today for the betterment of the generations to come”.
He even posted hashtags in support of the militant. This is not the first time that Pakistan has praised Burhaan. Earlier, in 2017 Pak’s Major General and PM, Nawaz Shareef hailed him as the voice of Kashmiris.
Time and again they try to divide the country by posting videos. Even Pakistani actors shares video supporting Kashmir.
Separatists in Kashmir:
Even after 71 years of Independence, there are some Kashmiris who do not wish to stay with India. The separatists active in Pak and India keep stirring anti-national emotions. While there is a significant decline in the separatist sentiments, some people still wish to be a separate nation. They are the ones who spread hatred against India and the Indian Army.
Cut India with a thousand wounds:
What people fail to understand is that Pakistan is just interested in taking hold of Kashmir. As they have many times stated they want to “cut India with a thousand wounds”. The separatists support them for their own monetary gains. The government is trying their best to bring the citizens of Kashmir into the mainstream, but the civilians will also have to support the nation. The best way to support is to stop believing all that is being preached. To have faith in the governance and fellow Indians.

We have been receiving Reactions on the story across India:
Seriously? You consider a guy like Burhan, I beg your pardon a terrorist like Burhan a hero? Do you even know who are termed as hero?. Someone, who sacrifices his/her entire life for the country is termed as heroes in my perception. But the contrasting thing is people criticize Indian army for doing their work and applaud such people. Who will stand for Indian army? I will, Lack of education and a polluted mindset leads to such activities. It’s high time every person who tweeted in favor of him should be asked to decide whether they want to stay as a part of India or not. If not, let’s just decide what to do with such people.
