Lionsgate has stated that "Michael," a movie about Michael Jackson, will come out on April 18, 2025. No relation to Michael Jackson, but Jaafar Jackson will play the King of Pop in the movie.
The Jackson estate gave their blessing to the movie, and it is being co-produced by Graham King, who also worked on the Queen drama Bohemian Rhapsody, and John Branca and John McClain, who are in charge of Jackson's estate.
The movie's script was written by John Logan, who also wrote the scripts for Gladiator, Rango, and Hugo.
Lionsgate says that the biopic will give viewers "an inspiring and truthful look at the brilliant but complicated man who became the King of Pop." Jackson's successes and failures will be shown on a grand, cinematic scale in the movie.
It will show his human side and personal problems as well as his undeniable artistic genius, shown by his most famous acts. People will get a unique look inside the life of one of the most important and innovative artists the world has ever known.
It's not clear how the movie will deal with the many claims of sexual abuse of children against Jackson, both while he was alive and after he died.
Jackson and his estate have denied the claims many times. The claims got more attention after the 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland came out.
