Winner of Pro Kabaddi Season 1 (2014): Jaipur Pink Panthers
Etching the first name on the Pro Kabaddi Winners title, Abhishek Bachchan-backed Jaipur Pink Panthers made history in the year 2014. VIVO Pro Kabaddi League found unexpected fan love which boosted the matches one after another throughout the season. To reach the finals, the Panthers successfully won 10 stage-level matches. Clearly, they were a formidable opponent from the start. Against them was rising U Mumba – the most favoured team of the tournament.
The Armageddon between the two took place on August 31 at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium. Anup Kumar-led U Mumba paralleled every raid and pulled up an extraordinary defence, they looked determined to win. The best part — they were playing finals at their home. Nonetheless, experience met endurance and stars met fireballs. All set to inscribe their name on the Pro Kabaddi winners list, Panthers Maninder Singh, Jasvir Singh, and Rohit Rana moved to action. As a result, Jaipur Pink Panthers ensured their victory of 35-24.

PKL star Maninder Singh finished third among all the top raiders of season one. Nonetheless, he proved to be the best for his team which eventually lifted the trophy. Maninder’s best move in the series was none other than his signature Running Hand Touch. Winner of Pro Kabaddi Season 2 (2015): U Mumba
And again the rivals met on 23 August 2015, at the same venue where they had their last face-off. One more time, it was U Mumba facing the defending champions and their first season finale nemesis Jaipur Pink Panthers. Anup Kumar with his Mumba tigers had laid out an even tougher campaign in season 2. Who would take ‘the title of Pro Kabaddi Winners of 2015?’ was a hung question since the closure of the first one. Fans had kept waiting for a year and this time cheered to find a new champion list of Pro kabaddi Winners, and that’s what happened. With Shabeer Bappu the dependable and Bonus Ka Baap, MVP of season 1 Anup Kumar, U Mumba managed to snatch the victor’s tag off the Panther’s teeth – winning by a single point: 29-28.

Best Raider for U Mumba in Pro Kabaddi Season 2 (2015): Anup Kumar (Points: 74)
The master strategist, other than leading his team, did wonders when it came to raiding down his opponents. He was the highest scorer in the inaugural season of the PKL with 169 points, however, his team couldn’t win the finals. In the second season, it spent more time chalking out routes to victory for the team. And he succeeded. At the same time, he was hailed as the best raider of his team, thanks to his signature move – Toe Touch.
Best Defender for U Mumba in Pro Kabaddi Season 2 (2015): Mohit Chillar (Points: 42)
Finishing with 42 tackle points, Chillar was a formidable defender for the U Mumba. His defence partnership with Surender Nada bore fruits as they lifted the trophy in the finals. He played a key role throughout the season 2 campaign, devising three Super Tackles and High 5s each. In fact, Chillar did better than his past season’s performance where he accumulated 39 points.

Winner of Pro Kabaddi Season 3: Patna Pirates
Pro Kabaddi Season 3 Date: 15 Jan – 5 Mar, 2016
The third time U Mumba reached the finals, a formidable streak and faced an amateur finalist Patna Pirates. For long they had been beaten up in the semi-finals. Landing at the Grand Finale mat in itself was a dream come for the Pirates. But they didn’t wish to lose at the final stage and made every effort to become Pro Kabaddi Winners for Season 3. Also, this time the format witnessed a 10-week tournament, meaning season 3 in the first half of 2016 and the next in another. Nothing seems to shake the spirits of the Pirates, who seemed more than eager to capture the Mumba Tigers.
Did they succeed? Big time! The Narwals stole the show, not only in the finale but had showcased their kabaddi genius throughout the season campaign. Moreover, a fine debutante Rohit Kumar played a key role in the Pirates’ domination. U Mumba-ikers was bettered in the last moments of the finale as Pirates beat them 31-28 to enter the list of Pro kabaddi Winners.

Probably one of the best all-rounders Kabaddi world has ever seen is Sandeep Narwal. Improving on his raiding skills, he has turned out to be an exceptional talent who is sought after by every team. Winner of Pro Kabaddi Season 4 (2016): Patna Pirates
Pro Kabaddi Season 4 Date: 25 Jun – 31 Jul, 2016
Watching the tournament in the second half of 2016 seemed like PKL tightening its tradition. The defending champs Patna Pirates had again made it to the finals. Interestingly, the premier champ Jaipur Pink Panthers was tired to stay off the finale cosmos and thus joined the show. While Panthers urged to win back their coveted title of Pro Kabaddi Winners, Pirates had grown more confident and unwilling to give up their pride. On July 31st, the Panthers faced the Pirates at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.
Jaipuri fans cheered and felt strongly, however, the Pirates set a new milestone in history. Becoming the first team to win two titles, Pirates proved to be an undisputed king of the mat. They managed a fine victory scoring 37-29 over the first-season champions. With this, Patna Pirates repeated its name on the Pro Kabaddi Winners list.

The most experienced player to stand tall in Kabaddi to date is Dharmaraj Cheralathan. The corner defender has often been seen as the Toughest Raid. For a raider is doomed when Dharmaraj catches hold. His signature move is Ankle Hold. In practice it comes with tremendous grip and strength, the defender grabs on to the raider’s ankle, often when he’s darting towards the mid-line, to force him back and create an opportunity for a tackle.

Winner of Pro Kabaddi Season 5 (2017): Patna Pirates
The fandom of Pro Kabaddi League never fell short and what better to witness than the king of the mat return to defend its supreme two-time Pro Kabaddi Winners title? Just like they were in season 3, Patna Pirates found an amateur Gujarat Fortunegiants at their fort. Though this was a tougher competition than before where 12 franchises participated for the first time, both the defending champs and an exceptional challenger found themselves facing each other on 23 August 2017.
Adani-backed Fortunegiants looked energetic and passionate to get their name up on the list of Pro kabaddi Winners. However, a greater history was created. Winning 55-38, Pirates set a streak of three-time Pro Kabaddi Winners, thanks to the astonishing 19 raid points grabbed by Pirates chief Pardeep Narwal.

Winner of Pro Kabaddi Season 6 (2018): Bengaluru Bulls
Gujarat Fortunegiants did not give up after the last defeat and embraced themselves to walk the final court yet again. This time they superseded the dominant Pirates and rose to the occasion to meet a new challenger – Bengaluru Bulls. This was the first time that the defending champs or previous Pro Kabaddi Winners failed to make the final mark. In the cold of January 5, 2015, the Bulls vowed to take on the giants.
And that’s what happened. Pawan Sehrawat stole the show, clinching 22 raid points in 25 raids. Making two All-Outs and leading the team to victory single-handedly after the second half of the game. NSCI Dome at Worli found a Southern lifting the trophy for the first time and getting a place in the Pro Kabaddi winners list. The Fortunegiants, unfortunately, tasted defeat and could not repeat the stint of U Mumba in PKL season 2. The Bulls won by 38-33.

Winner of Pro Kabaddi Season 7 (2019): Bengal Warriors
The latest addition to the list of Pro Kabaddi Winners is Bengal Warriors. Yes, the east shone in the last edition of the annual kabaddi tournament. And what better than the capital city’s team facing it in the finals? Maninder-led Warriors successfully stopped Naveen Kumar of the other end and encouraged their prime raider to prevail in the game. Pro Kabaddi League by this time had turned into a mega annual sports event, next to IPL. So, the cheers and bands were orchestrated to build a zealous atmosphere. The home ground support of Delhi at the Arena Indoor Stadium went in vain as the Warriors sounded their victory trumpets. Though Delhi showcased a splendid performance, the Warriors became the ones to enter the Pro Kabaddi winners list by winning 39-34.

Best Defender for Bengal Warriors in Pro Kabaddi Season 7 (2019): Baldev Singh (Points: 66)
Highlight in the Warriors’ defence camp was Baldev Singh. With a High Five and 3 Super Tackles in the season 7 campaign, Baldev ensured a place for his team in the finale. While the captain eroded every opponent in their den, Baldev took upon the responsibility to protect theirs. And without doubt, he stood committed to his promise.

Winner of Pro Kabaddi Season 8 (2021-2022): Dabang Delhi K.C.
In the championship game on Friday, Dabang Delhi K C defeated Patna Pirates 37-36 to win the Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 trophy. Star raider Naveen Kumar of Delhi (13 points) and all-arounder Vijay (14 points) won Super 10s after outlasting three-time champion Patna Pirates in a fierce battle.
The Patna defence had an abnormally bad night, with players like Mohammadreza Shadloui and Sunil making way too many mistakes.
However, in the game’s last play, the Pirates had an opportunity to tie the score, but Naveen eluded the defenders to cross the goal line and give Delhi its first PKL championship.

Best Raider for Dabang Delhi K.C. in Pro Kabaddi Season 8 (2021-2022): NAVEEN KUMAR (points: 207)
Naveen Kumar delivered his greatest performance in this, his third PKL season, helping Dabang Delhi K.C. win their first-ever PKL championship. The young player who was in charge of the attack had incredible poise in tense moments and easily handled the defenders. He scored 13 points in the dramatic final against Patna Pirates and 14 points in the decisive semifinal against Bengaluru Bulls. He finished Season 8 with 207 raid points overall in 17 games and 12 Super 10s. The second year in a row, Naveen won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the season. He also attained 600 raid points the quickest.
Best Defender in Pro Kabaddi Season 8 (2021-2022): SAURABH NANDAL (BENGALURU BULLS) (Points: 69)
Saurabh Nandal established himself as the right corner’s defensive lynchpin for the Bulls, turning in standout performances and making enough of an impression on the league to earn recognition as a feared defender. With his offensive dives and holds, Nandal has established quite a reputation for himself. He frequently uses these techniques to his advantage. In 24 games, he collected 69 tackle points, including two High Fives and six Super Tackles.
